Our Story 

The Club is based in Mokokchung with currently 40 members. It is the first cycling club in Mokokchung and presently one of the largest Cycling Clubs in the Northeast India.

Formed on the 2nd of January 2016, when a Whatsapp chat between two childhood cycling enthusiast friends Mr.Lipokwati and Mr. Atoba Longkumer, went on to discuss the idea of forming a cycling club in Mokokchung, the idea being propounded by the later. Thereafter, Wapangsunep, Moameren and Bendangmeren joined in, endorsing the idea to officially kick start the cycling campaign in town.

The club is administered and managed by a “Board of Directors” headed by a Chairman and a “Managing Board”, members of which are appointed by the Board of Directors for a specific term.

Aims & Objectives

  1. To promote the healthy sport of cycling through events such as group rides, training, organized races, workshops, service projects and cause- oriented charitable fundraising and solicitation policies.

  2. To take up cycling as an industry and to mainstream this sport at the national and international levels.

  3. To help grow the cycling community in Mokokchung. 

  4. To work towards the preservation of our environment and ecosystem

  5. To build  friendly networks with other mountain biking clubs and communities across the globe. 

  6. To collaborate with Bike Companies, Government Agencies & Private Enterprises for the promotion of this sport. 

  7. To build trails and bike parks in the region. 

Activities so far

  1. Organized a Tour Ride To Longkhum during the Moatsu Festival with the theme, “To promote Culture and Tourism through Mountain Biking” on 2nd May 2016.

  2. Celebrated World Environment Day on the 5th of June 2016. with the theme “Join the race to make the world a better place” with Dr. Tiasunep as the guest speaker followed by planting of tree saplings and setting up of bamboo waste baskets in and around the Mokokchung Town Park.

  3. Volunteered to clean up the MMC shopping complex in the month of July and also at Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo’s “KABA CARE” program.

  4. On 27th September 2016, World Tourism Day, two of our riders Mr. Tzudiyong Jamir & Mr. Imliyanger set out on a 3 days expedition covering more than 300kms into the interiors of Mokokchung with the aim to promote cycling as a sustainable mean of transportation and to promote intra-tourism through mountain biking.

  5. The club also participated in the following cycling events across Nagaland:i) Niathu Cycling Race Dimapur in November- The Club Secured the 4th Position.(Represented by Mr. Tzudiyong Jamir, Mr. Atoba Longkumer)                 ii) Thuwuni Enduro Race at Pughoboto in November(Represented by Mr. Imolangba, Mr. Merentemjen, Mr. Imotemsu, Mr. Tzudiyong)     iii) Kohima Downhill in December.(Represented by Mr. Opanger, Mr. Tzudiyong, Mr. Wapangsunep, Mr. Moameren & Mr. Lipokwati)

  6. To put Mokokchung on the Mountain Biking map of India, THCC organized the first cycling event in Mokokchung on the 10th of December 2016 – Mokokchung Mountain Bike Festival which was a part of the Hornbill Mountain Biking Festival.

  7. The event saw riders coming from the state of Manipur, Meghalaya, Assam, Sikkim and Bangalore.

  8. The event was supported by the Tourism Department and sponsored by Red Bull India, FirefoxBikes Company Noida, Misty Drops, Little Village Cycles, IDBI Bank, Soyim Printers, Pitstop, ZetaFx and Lil Star Entertainment.

  9. Tzudir Yimka MTB Race was also organized on the 16th of December 2016 at Ungma Nature Park sponsored by the Asemjungba Semchir. The club supported in building the trails for a bike park there which is the First Bike Park in India.

  10. A Workshop on “Mountain Bike Technique” with Mr. Ollie Hemstock from the United Kingdom was organized on 3rd of January 2017.

  11. Organized the first Nagaland Downhill Championship in May 2017.

  12. Visited the Orphanage at Mokokchung in January 2017 and donated a Refrigerator to the inmates.

  13. With support of the Tourism Department, Government of Nagaland, the club organized the second edition of the Mokokchung Mountain Bike Festival on 7&8th of December.
